AFC Bedhampton Village Ladies Reserves 2 - 3 Wight Eagles FC

The Eagles travelled to Bedhampton this past Sunday and run out 3-2 winners in a very tough match. The game started out evenly for the first few minutes but we was caught out on the 8th minute with a very long throw coming in and bouncing straight over goalkeeper Emily. This was a bit of a shock to the system, but we started on the front foot straight from the kick off and on the 12th minute see a long kick from the Bedhampton keeper being picked up by Carmen who played a through ball for Jordan Bradshaw to latch onto and after beating a couple of defenders slotted the ball passed the Bedhampton keeper. The rest of the first half see the Eagles take a number of injuries while dealing with wave after wave of long throws and corner kicks. A fantastic finger tip save over the bar from keeper Emily towards the break was worth a mention.

The second half see a change in goal with Emily out of the game through injury, Chloe Stanford stepped between the sticks and did an amazing job. We started out as we left the first half, under a lot of pressure and again being dominated by long throws which eventually led to Bedhampton poking the ball home after a long throw created some panic in our box. Being 2-1 down but not defeated, like last week the goal actually woke the team up and from the kick off we got control of the game and started to ramp up the pressure and intensity on Bedhampton. The 59th minute see a vicious 30 yard shot by Faye Spink whistle just past the post. Just a minute later Abi Joyce bombed down the left wing beating two players, before seeing a low driven shot just turned behind by the Bedhampton keeper. Within two minutes of that action see a goal kick intercepted by Carmen, who quickly sent Ellie Witty away with a through ball and Ellie made no mistake in thumping home a 20 yard shot into the net. With confidence now growing the team pushed on looking for the winner and with our defence really becoming solid and Chloe Stanford doing a great job in goal, the team finally got the winner in the 88th minute when Chloe Seager run up the right wing turning the Bedhampton defender twice, before putting in the cross of the season for Abi Joyce to run onto and head home from 5 yards.

A fantastic win for the team on the road with so many players missing and players injured during the match. The whole club are extremely proud considering the circumstances.
