Wight Eagles FC 2 - 0 Hamble Club Women First

Sunday 27th September see Wight Eagles FC kick off our season at home in the sun to Hamble Ladies FC. Hamble was coming off the back of a victory the previous weekend, while our ladies had not kicked a match ball for seven months.

No pre season games see us entering the game up against it, but with some new additions to the squad on show and high hopes for the season regardless of a disrupted pre season, we got underway with a strong start and got ourselves into the lead on the 36th minute, with early substitute Jordan Bradshaw latching onto a stray ball and chipping the keeper from twenty yards.

Half time: Eagles 1-0 Hamble

A cagey start to the second half see the game being played in the center of the park, with a real battle between both midfields breaking out.

A through ball on the 71st minute, see debutant Chloe Seager control the ball, turn and slot the ball past a fully outstretched keeper. A solid defensive display from the ladies see us through and the result over the line.

Full time: Eagles 2-0 Hamble

Team: Blandford, Powell-Rowland, Atkinson, Simonds, Cotton, Davis, Leavold (c), Boakes, Joyce, Hodgkins, Marshall

Subs: K. Elliot, M. Elliot, Bradshaw, Witty, Seager

Goals: Bradshaw, Seager

AM AUTO’S Player of the Match: Abi Joyce
